Dear Reader, We're nearly done with February, which has felt rather long considering it's the shortest month of the year. I hope your month has gone well and that the warmth of spring is approaching you wherever you live. At the Dot Design on YouTube 🥳🤩I've considered creating content for YouTube for a few years now, but I'm always very torn about it. It takes a lot of time to create aesthetically pleasing videos with gorgeous b-roll footage of artwork being made or nature walks being enjoyed. If I spend all my time doing that, I'll have nothing left for art (and that's not ok). But, I recently learned about "granny-style" videos and thought to myself, "I could do YouTube that way.". And so my first YouTube videos were born. If you are looking for videos with lots of jump cuts and effects designed to hold your attention, my videos are not for you. These are me sitting in front of a camera, talking for 6-8 minutes. No transitions, no effects, not even a bit of background music (except for the birds). I'm embracing my inner granny (no offense to the grannies out there...ya'll are amazing!). They cover topics I know fellow artists are struggling with, topics I struggle with myself. If you're interested, click the videos below, and if you want to see more, be sure to hit the subscribe button so you'll get a notification each Thursday when I post a video. I'd love to hang out with you over there and have a bit of a dialoge about the topics I discuss. Paying it ForwardThe Protect What You Love Sale is still happening in my Etsy shop. 100% of the profits from every purchase will be donated to support victims of the Eaten Fire. Donations will be sent to Altadena Girls and the Pasadena Community Foundation Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund. Thank you so much to those of you who have made a purchase. I truly appreciate your support and look forward to sharing the final donation amount in March. With hope, |
